Issues
Infrastructure
Healthcare
Wealth Inequality
Civil Rights
Education Expansion
Today, Democrats and Republicans take essentially the same stance on many issues. Read below to see how I would address them.
Am I missing an issue that is important to you? Let us know at issues@christianahmedforca40.com, and I will personally see to it that issue is addressed!
Department of Infrastructure
I want to establish a National Department of Infrastructure, that hires construction workers directly, and takes on both Local and Federal Infrastructure demands. Read More
Existing Public Transit Expansion
I want to increase the number of buses and trains running in OC and around the Country. Read More
Bicycle Route Improvements
I want to expand bicycle lanes to all roads that have 2 or more lanes, and work to place reinforced barriers for bicycle lanes that have historically exposed cyclists to accidents involving motor vehicles.
Community Awareness
We need to ensure that not only do we have the access to these proposed services, but that people know they exist! I want to have a representative for the Department of Transportation at each Public School, and DMV Office that can help students and teachers alike to learn and understand the Public Transportation available to them.
Police Accountability
I demand accountability and public transparency with our Police force. Cut the red tape, release bodycamera footage! Read More
Broadband Internet access
All Americans deserve access to reliable high-speed internet, and I want to expand that access to every American, rural and urban alike.
Unionization
I want to pass the PRO Act, enshrining workers rights to unionize and job safety protections, and codifying penalties for violations of workers rights. I believe all workers should have a say in their workplace conditions, and should be able to collectively bargain to be compensated fairly.
Workforce Development
I want to develop more programs that train workers for in-demand jobs in sectors like technology, healthcare, and advanced manufacturing. I also happily support grants for taking on apprenticeships, vocational training, and partnerships between businesses and educational institutions. We need to incentivize the workforce to enter these high-demand jobs, and support tax incentives for workers who participate in jobs like healthcare, manufacturing, and all forms of childcare to include teachers.
Support for Small Businesses
Small businesses have been brutalized by monopolies like Amazon and Walmart, who can sell certain goods at a loss to ensure that there is access to that customer base. I want to support groups like the FTC to tackle these monopolies and protect Small Businesses from being bought out by these massive conglomerates and maintain their independence.
Tax Policy
We need to modernize the tax code to address wealth disparity and income inequality, and claw back the dragon hoard of gold held by the top 1% of earners. Read More
Trade Policy
Donald Trump's Tariff war is damaging our small businesses and consumers the hardest. Big box stores are passing these costs on, and will continue to demolish and absorb the small businesses that can't keep up with the rapidly changing import costs. The only ones who lose are the Working Class, as we get priced out of our own economy. While International trade has its benefits, we also need to protect production and manufacturing jobs in the US.
Pay Disparity
Workers wages have stagnated despite productivity outpacing it by 2.7 times as much. We are more productive, doing more within our work hours than ever before, but wages have not gone up to match this reality. Americans make more and more money for their bosses, and do NOT see the results for themselves. I want to codify a maximum wage, where CEO pay can no longer be 290 times that of their average worker in their own company. In 1965, that difference was 20 times as much. (https://www.epi.org/publication/ceo-pay-in-2023/)
Access to Affordable Healthcare
I support transitioning to a single payer system, colloquially known as Medicare For All. Profits have no place in inelastic demands like healthcare. We need to stand up to the Pharmaceutical companies and no longer let them bully us with drug prices that they use TAX PAYER MONEY to research and produce!
Mental Health and Substance Abuse
There is a brutal cycle of drug abuse, mental health issues and being unhoused. With the Federal Budget cuts of 1981, we saw Federal funding of Mental Health Institutions fall precipitously and the results have been an increase in unhoused Americans, and a loss of control on the Mental Health epidemic. We need to make being a Mental Healthcare worker well paid and the infrastructures that support them well funded, so we can help rehabilitate these Americans back into society instead of leaving them on the streets to suffer.
Public Health Infrastructure
There need to be more Public health clinics in our communities, from the underserved to the affluent. Access to affordable healthcare must be treated as a human right, and not as a privilege for those that can afford it. From our Seniors and retirees, to undocumented migrants, all Human beings deserve that access.
Health Worker Pay
Nurses, PA's, Hospital staff and all the other unsung heroes of our Medical system should be paid more, and we should make becoming a member of this VITAL infrastructure easier and more affordable. Go into any hospital Emergency Room and you will see nurses working their tails off trying to help as many as they can, but they only have two hands, and so many hours in the day. We need to partner with the Institutions that train these jobs to make that training more accessible and affordable, to help our overburdened healthcare workers to share the load.
Nutrition
Nutrition has been left in a confusing place with conflicting guidance. I want to institute a requirement for the presence of a nutritionist in every public school, and for the food provided at the public schools to be free of charge, as well as made with whole, non-processed ingredients. Teaching Americans how to eat properly at a young age is the only way we are going to tackle the obesity epidemic in our country.
Prisoner Rights Reform
The 14th amendment to the Constitution has helped create a Mini-Apartheid in our country. Prisoners are left in horrible conditions and are regularly exposed to violence, and in turn often become violent to survive their prison sentences. Read More
Repeal The Lakin Riley Act
Lakin Riley's murder is horrific, but using her murder as a justification to suspend due process for undocumented immigrants is Fascist, and inherently unconstitutional. All people in the United States are granted due process, and must be afforded their day in court, not summarily detained and deported by the Department of Homeland Security.
Codify access to Gender Affirming Care
We must not allow our laws to discriminate against LGBTQ+ people in America.
Read MoreCodifying Roe vs. Wade
Since the Supreme Court cannot be trusted to protect our Civil Rights, Congress must step in and do it themselves. We must codify Roe vs. Wade. Read More
Department of Education Expansion
Education is the most important fundamental cornerstone of a society and we must preserve it. Democrats capitulated as DOGE raided the institution at Republican discretion. Read More
Address Racial Disparity in Medicine
Today Black Americans face higher infant mortality rates, shorter lifespans, and a lack of access to healthcare services in their communities. These inequities are a direct result of prejudice and internalized bigotry that unfortunately still exists in our healthcare systems.
Read MoreVoter Protections
Racism and misogyny mar our history of voting rights and it is time once and for all for the Federal Government to make Election days Local and Federal holidays, and ensure no one can try and prohibit someone from exercising their right to vote. Read More
NO on the Orange Heights Development
For years, Community Leader "Barefoot" Joel Robinson has led the fight against the Orange Heights development, and I am proud to stand with him to preserve the few Natural Habitats we have left. Read More
Palestinian Liberation
We must end the current Ethnic Cleansing campaign against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and ensure that International law is adhered to by foreign nations that receive military aid from the United States, in adherence with the Leahy Law. Read More
The Rise of Housing costs
We must implement changes to who can buy residential property in the United States. As housing is continually looked at less like shelter, and more as an investment, we must ensure that Americans are not priced out of their own neighborhoods. Read More
Campaign Finance Reform
Running for office should not be possible on the piggy-banks of billionaires. It is well past due for Citizens United to be overturned and for campaigns to be publicly funded. Read More
32-hour Workweek
I am calling for a 32 hour work-week, with 40 hours worth of pay. Productivity is through the roof while wages stagnate, and businesses profit while working class Americans are stuck looking for second jobs to pay their bills. Read More
Universal Childcare
Americans cannot afford to be a single income household anymore, and the trade off of a second income versus childcare costs only exacerbate that issue, which is why I am calling for Childcare to be subsidized by the federal government. Read More
Military Budget
I am calling for the Department of Defense to cease all International interventions indefinitely, and for the Department of Defense to undergo a FULL independent audit to account for our military spending. I am also calling for a significant reduction in force, as well as Nuclear Disarmament. Read More
Undocumented Immigrants
The deportations must stop. Individuals coming here to participate in our society should be given resources to help them adjust to our society, given full labor protections, and access to full rights. In our modern day, there is no reason why immigration hearings can't be held digitally. We must end the idea that we can prevent crime from happening by preventing desperate people from coming here, when data shows undocumented immigrants commit fewer crimes than citizens do per capita. Protecting the rights of our most vulnerable is defending the rights of ALL of us. Read More
State Provided Emergency Weather Insurance/ FEMA Expansion
The time to rely on private insurance for Fire, Flood, Earthquake and Tornado insurance is over. We need a State managed, taxpayer funded system to ensure that people aren't left behind following a National Disaster. Read More
Insider Trading in Congress
We have watched leaders in the Democratic and Republican parties enrich themselves and set an example for junior members that personal enrichment is an acceptable course of action while serving in public office. I am calling for congresspersons to place their stock portfolios in a trust when joining congress, which can only be accessed when their time in congress has ended. NO buying stocks on insider information, NO selling stocks on insider information. Members of Congress must be held to a higher standard. Read More
